Curtis Estes, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®
Curtis Estes graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism in May 1991. He joined the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in June 1991. Since then, he has received numerous company and industry awards and honors for his high levels of production within the top 1% of all professionals.
Curtis is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and helps clients with comprehensive financial planning. He has a particular interest in helping clients see a bigger vision for their future and helping them achieve it. He accomplishes this by working with his clients to define their goals and dreams, then develops solutions to achieve these dreams.
Curtis is the author of Your Life by Design, a step by step guide to creating a bigger future (www.curtisestes.biz). As a popular keynote speaker, he lectures regularly throughout North America to corporate and civic organizations.
An avid proponent of philanthropy, Curtis is actively involved in the International Justice Mission, the National Center for Fathering, and Bel Air Presbyterian Church. He serves as a trustee for Spokane’s Whitworth University, and is on the Board of Pacifica Christian High School and the Youth Business Alliance. He is the founder of the Los Angeles Suitcase Party (www.lasuitcaseparty.com), which raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children’s charities, as well as a co-founder of the Estes Matloff Racing Team (www.estesmatloffracing.com), which helps Southern California athletes attain podium finishes in triathlons and mountain bike races.
Curtis lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Kristi; daughter, Vyvien; and sons Jordan and Christian.
Scott R. Cohen
Scott Cohen joined Northwestern Mutual - West Los Angeles in August 2013 to manage the investment operations of Juan’s wealth management practice. In this capacity, Scott helps to oversee Juan’s client accounts and provides assistance in all facets of their investments. Prior to joining the Baron practice, Scott was a Private Client Advisor with J.P. Morgan Securities, LLC. Scott holds his Series 7, Series 66 securities licenses and California Life and Health Insurance license.
Scott received his B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara where he majored in Business Economics. He was also a Scholar Athlete as a member of the Gaucho baseball team.
Outside the office, Scott loves being active. He recently completed his first Ironman triathlon and enjoys playing in various softball leagues. He is a huge Dodgers and Lakers fan. Scott is also very passionate about volunteering, especially for his favorite charity, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, which provides a summer camp and various events for children with childhood cancer. Scott is a lifetime resident of Los Angeles and currently resides in Brentwood, CA.
